REACH is the new European Union regulation concerning the ‘Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction’ of chemical substances. It came into force on 1st June 2007, and replaces all previous chemical legislations and regulations in the European Union (EU).
The aim of REACH is to improve the protection of human health and the environment through better and earlier identification of the intrinsic properties of chemical substances. At the same time, REACH aims to enhance the innovation and competitiveness of the EU chemicals industry.
Chemicals currently on the EU market, which meet the definition of phase-in substances, should be pre-registered before 1 December 2008. ULTRAKİM and REACH
As you probably know, silicone polymers, as well as all other polymers and silicone polymer emulsions (preparations), are exempt from REACH registration. However, the monomers used to manufacture silicone polymers and other substances used in preparations may require registration.
In this respect, we would like to confirm that all the substances in the delivered preparations, or the monomers of the polymer products produced by ULTRAKİM which require pre-registration under REACH, have been timely pre-registered before the 1st of December 2008 by the initial EU (upstream) supplier(s), or the Only Representative that is assigned by ULTRAKİM. All registrations will be completed before the scheduled deadlines.
As required under REACH, we hereby provide you with written notification that ULTRAKİM has appointed GOVI NV as its ‘Only Representative (OR)’ for all products manufactured at our facility located in Istanbul, Turkey.
Concerning some of our customers’ frequently asked questions, please notice:
- We assure you that none of our substances or constituents in our final products are included in the list of ‘Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC)’.
- Following CEFIC and related industrial associations’ advice, ULTRAKİM does not choose to share the pre-registration numbers as of yet.
- Since the final registrations will last until 2018 for some substances, it is not possible for ULTRAKİM to make any statement about the continued availability of these products at this time.
